August '21 Plans

First off, how is it already august? I am in disbelief....

A lot to do this month and I am excited to knock two rooms off our forever to-do list, the bathrooms! As we mentioned in our crazy home tour we actually have two full bathrooms, one on the main floor, and one in the basement. Neither of them are conjoined with a bedroom, so we share the main bath today, but it would be nice to have that extra space downstairs when we are working out or playing. Ryan did admit he would also just love to have extra quiet bathroom time too, haaa.

So the current situation is that the upstairs, main bathroom is much more finished.

We ripped out the walls and dropped ceiling over the tub/shower, the floor and literally everything else. We installed all new drywall, tub, tile, toilet, vanity and lighting. The whole shabang really.

What we still need to do is below, and again the goal is within the month:

main bath to-do:

  • prime/repaint ceiling (a candle did us dirty over Christmas)

  • repaint walls as necessary

  • paint and install quarter bead onto baseboards

  • another layer of grout on shower tile (never was happy with it)

  • pop out two floor tiles and replace (Liam and Greyson cracked them by dropping our previous heavy toiler paper holder on them)

  • make the bath toy storage a bit cuter

  • source/replace the sink basin (the faucet doesn't work well with the sink shape - not a lot of room to actually wash your hands, and I would rather have something lower profile)

cracked floor tiles, can be cuter toy storage, ceilings that are majorly sooted up

The downstairs, as eluded to, is not done at all, besides some preliminary white paint. The idea there is to make the space less eerie and more inviting. Going to the bathroom and taking showers is a vulnerable state, the last thing you want to do is think about it being haunted. :)

Basement Bath To-Do:

  • things to still source: toilet, shower head, curtain rod (build), sink faucet, wall/floor paint, stool/chair, towel hook, rug, barn door supplies

  • paint walls

  • paint/stencil floors

  • replace shower head

  • install toilet

  • install sink vanity & faucet

  • install mirror

  • install shower curtain rod

  • decorate - shower curtain, towel hook, stool/chair, soap dispenser, rug, plants? not sure if they would survive lol

  • build, paint and hang barn door

Sketch, sketch, more sketch

So that is the almighty checklist! Hoping we can stay on track, but know life can take over, and it ultimately might take longer than initially anticipated. Maybe that's inevitable. Happy thoughts xx
