New Favorite Home Addition: Bracket Shelves

Don't get me wrong, I love a good floating shelf situation, but I am here to tell you that bracket shelves are back and better than ever!

Recently, I finally took on a small project that I have envisioned for years. Originally, I pictured a very long floating shelf in this space above the side table and chairs off our living room.

When I went to price out that floating shelf option, it was sooo much more expensive than I thought they were. Seriously, I am talking close to one thousand dollars for a shelf that long (8 foot). I then thought I would just diy the shelf instead, and made a plan to do so.

THEN, I began seeing shelves with BRACKETS. It's not what I was originally planning for, but hear me out. Look how good these examples are! They add so much character to the space and really add dimension that a floating shelf wouldn't. I was sold that this was the route to go.

Floating shelves have taken everyone by storm for about 5 good years, but the bracket life now has a hold on me. This is how our space ended up :) I finished it off with some diy art and family photos. It's now my favorite spot in the house.
